IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING PHILMONT AND SUMMER CAMP - PLEASE READ COMPLETELY

Posted by admin on Jun 5 2018 - 9:58am

All,

Please be sure to attend tonight's meeting.  If you have not heard by now Philmont has cancelled all backcountry treks between the dates of June 8 to July 14th due to the UTE Park wildfire that has been burning since last Thursday.

Per the Philmont website there will be refunds issued, we are not sure of when.  I have been in contact with the Council Program Director for the Pikes Peak Council in Colorado.  They are looking at putting a program together for us that would include whitewater rafting, mountain biking and climbing and rappelling.  We do not have the full details yet.  This is at Camp Alexander in Colorado.  Their "program" areas are full (merit badge classes, etc) so MB's would not be offered however the program director is working on putting together a "high adventure" type program for us since our Trek was cancelled.  We would still look to depart on June 23 (Saturday) and would then return on 6/30 (Sunday)  or 7/1 (Monday).

I am not sure of the cost at this time.  Not sure if everyone even wants to go there. This will be discussed at the meeting (options of where to go).  Cost may be available by the next meeting. If you were not scheduled to go to Philmont but would like to attend the new scheduled event please be sure to come to the meeting tonight!
